Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• User identifiers, authentication details, and profile name
• Optional profile image and receipt images
• Expense data, split details, group membership, settlement history, and related notes
• Device tokens and notification preferences required for push notifications
• Optional iCloud backup metadata stored in the user’s private CloudKit database

2. How we use information

• Provide authentication, cloud sync, balance calculations, and group collaboration
• Deliver features such as backup, restore, receipt scanning, and reports
• Send app notifications when enabled by the user
• Maintain and improve service quality, reliability, and support

3. Storage and third-party services

• Firebase is used for authentication, Firestore storage, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Messaging
• CloudKit backup uses the user’s private iCloud storage when the feature is enabled
• Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In are used for account access

These services are subject to their own privacy terms and policies.

4. Data sharing

BalanceMate shares relevant expense and settlement data with members of the same group so that shared balances can function.

BalanceMate does not sell personal information or use it for advertising without user consent.

5. User rights and deletion

• Users can access, correct, export, and delete their account data from within the app
• Account deletion removes personal expenses, profile data, friend-related data, and the authentication record
• Shared group records needed by other members may remain only in anonymized form after deletion

6. Security

• Network communication uses HTTPS/TLS
• Firebase security rules are used to restrict unauthorized access
• Optional local protection such as Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode can be enabled on device
